Shortbread is a classic Scottish biscuit that consists of three basic ingredients: flour, sugar, and butter.
Shortbread is so named because of its crumbly texture (from an old meaning of the word short).
The buttery crumbly biscuit is one of Scotland’s finest exports and is available here by mail order.
Historically Shortbread was expensive and reserved as a luxury for special occasions such as Christmas
and Hogmanay, but is now enjoyed year round.
In 1898 Walkers great grandfather, Joseph Walker started out with the mission...
"To make the world's finest shortbread."
To this day the company carry forward this tradition of baking the finest shortbreads, biscuits cakes
and oatcakes, using his original recipes.
Walkers Shoertbreads have been baking shortbread in the Scottish Highlands since 1898.
They still use only the finest pure ingredients with no artificial colours, flavourings or preservatives.
